Class: Kerrin Meis - Le Yachting: Impressionists on the Water

The Legion of Honor is celebrating the America’s Cup races with an exhibition about the French Impressionists’ fascination with being on the water. The Seine, the Atlantic beaches, and the Mediterranean are visited in eighty works of art—some famous, some not seen here before—exploring the emergence of Yacht Clubs, Rowing Societies, and even bathing! Artists include Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Caillebotte, Sisley, and Signac. Kerrin Meis includes Manet, Morisot, and Tissot to round out the study of art, culture, and commerce. Field trips may be arranged but are not included in the tuition.
Kerrin Meis taught art history at SFSU for ten years and now lectures for the College of Marin and Dominican University. She leads study tours in Europe. Her Book Passage classes have been big favorites for years.

Cynthia Pepper’s short films have won Emmy Awards and are distributed worldwide. This class discusses all the elements oftranslating a short story into a film. Topics include writing a simple treatment or screenplay, creating shooting boards, casting, finding locations, directing, producing, editing, and scoring a short film on a variety of budgets.
